Driving Mr. Dead

Miss Harper writes with the kind of wit and charm that one often searches for, but rarely ever finds in this genre. She subtly weaves a sense of intelligence and humor in to her stories. Thus allowing a character to grow into something more than you may have at first expected. Her characters are personable, her writing is paced well. You never pick up one of her books to find yourself wishing it would just go someplace, in her books you're already there.

I give this book a solid B

A couple posts ago I mentioned the release of a new Molly Harper novella, Driving Mr. Dead. I was lucky enough to win a copy of the story. Let me tell you, I read it in one sitting last night. I absolutely love this spin off of the Half Moon Hollow crew of vampires. Heck, even the most lovable vampire, Dick Cheney (no the former vice president) made an appearance. I may have squeed a bit when he showed up.

But back to the story at hand...

You have a sassy but lovable heroine, Miranda Puckett, who is tasked with the transportation of a rather grouchy Vampire, Collin Sutherland, across the country. He is on a mission for the council and she is on this trip to sort out her feelings about the current state of her life. Of course sparks fly when their different temperaments clash. Like Jane from the original series, Miranda finds herself in the most precarious situations, which makes for plenty side splitting cackling.

This book will have you laughing and begging for more. I'm happy that there is another spin off in the works and another Jane Jameson book coming out soon. I could literally squee with excitement.

  1. As much as I like the sound of it, I just don't think I can stomach anymore vamps/witches/shifters/weres or love triangles (ARGH!) for a while ;p
